Dear Team Jock Stop Runner:
It is almost time for the 2006 Memorial Mile. If you are pre-registered, you will also receive a T-shirt. We also need your assistance with this race, with volunteering on race day. If you know of any potential sponsors please let Don, Lenny or me know as soon as possible! Local sponsors so far have been good to us this year in giving both product donation and monetary contributions. If you can think of any other place we have overlooked, let me know and we would appreciate any help you could give us in this area. If you know anyone in business that would be interested in sponsoring the race, let us know. Some of you are already helping me out in this area and I appreciate it!
We are very lucky to have a great Police Department and Road Department in Boardman! Their help allows us to shut down the busies state highway in Ohio. Even though the parade goes through just after the race, the Police and Road Department crews enjoy the race and we even give them T-shirts to wear around when they are not in uniform!
A few other people that I have to thank in helping out are Jeff Luther, Jim Fox and Ron Scott. Jeff works the finish line timing so very well and knowing that make me a lot less stressed on race day! Jim Fox (one of the original members of Team Jock Stop in the 1970's) oversees the finish line chute and the Boardman High School girls track and field tem (thanks to Coach Gorski) do a fine job of working the chute! Ron Scott is our official starter and he does a very capable job in getting the races started without a hitch. All the bases are covered so that I can just run around and be nervous until I race the second heat...!!
I am getting better at figuring out how to use my digital camera, so more pictures of the race can go up on the web site. The only thing is that I have dial up internet service, so it takes a long time for me to upload them to the site.
