Running Resume:

I did not participate in organized running or track teams or events in High School or College, but began running (off & on) for general fitness in my mid-twenties. In my thirties I got away from running due to some minor injuries, but began to add it back into my fitness activities in my late 30’s. By the time I turned 40 in Feb 2000, I was running about three times a week in addition to weights and some cycling.

On a whim I ran in a 4 mile race on July 4, 2000 and was pleasantly surprised by my time, but won no prizes. On Thanksgiving Day in 2000 I ran a 5k and was very surprised to find that I had gotten third in my age group. I was hooked.

From 2000-2004 (in Age Group 40-44) I ran about 50 road races ranging from 1 mile to 15k. I had 11 Masters & Age Group wins as well as 11 2nd or 3rd place Age Group finishes.

As I began training more carefully, I realized that my best races were the shorter more intense ones on the track. In 2004 I ran 2 one milers and one 800m race. I intend to focus primarily on the 800m race in 2005 with a goal of meeting the All American standard of 2:11 for age 45-49. I also have a goal of breaking 5:00 in the mile this year.
